What FPSC requires before your viva
- Five duly signed copies of your preference form — FPSC calls this your last chance to choose options, so review it carefully before signing.
- No change of centre is permitted once a schedule is finalized.
- Full compliance with FPSC’s official “Guidance for Candidates Appearing Before Viva Voce Board,” available on the FPSC website.
What the panel is actually evaluating
FPSC’s own guidance document is unusually direct about what the viva measures: knowledge, confidence, leadership, decision-making, judgment, and communication skills, tested through wide-ranging questions on Pakistan’s ideology, current affairs, geopolitics, and general knowledge — including scenario-based questions to gauge how you think under pressure.
The panel isn’t looking for textbook answers. FPSC states there’s no single “correct” response expected on complex issues — instead, structured, well-reasoned opinions backed by logic and ground realities carry the actual weight. Genuineness matters too: the guidance is explicit that performing a personality rather than showing your own will not help, since “quality speaks for itself.”

Is the viva voce the same as the CSS interview?
Yes — Viva Voce is FPSC’s official term for the CSS interview, the final evaluation stage after the written exam and psychological assessment.
Can I request a different centre for my viva?
No. FPSC’s notice states change of centre is not permitted once schedules are finalized.
What is the preference form FPSC mentions?
