CSS Geology Past Papers (2016–2026): Free PDF Download

CSS Geology past papers show how FPSC tests earth materials, geological processes and Pakistan-focused applied geology in a competitive-exam setting. This page collects the original Geology question papers from 2016 through 2026, with a free PDF for each year and one combined archive for offline study. Use them to map recurring concepts, practise structured answers and connect physical geology with resources, hazards and exploration.

Geology CSS past papers by year

Start with the most recent paper to see the current style, then work backwards. Older papers remain useful because they show how FPSC has tested physical and structural geology, mineralogy, stratigraphy, paleontology, petroleum geology and Pakistan-focused geological topics over time.

What the CSS Geology paper tests

Each supplied paper is a three-hour, 100-mark examination. Part I contains MCQs worth 20 marks and has a 30-minute limit. Part II carries 80 marks; the instructions require candidates to attempt four written questions by selecting two questions from each section. The papers also state that a calculator is allowed.

Physical and structural geologyThe archive covers weathering, erosion, transportation, rock deformation, lineation, foliation, mountain belts, plate tectonics and major tectonic zones of Pakistan.
Mineralogy, stratigraphy and paleontologyQuestions include minerals, isomorphism, polymorphism, lithostratigraphic and chronostratigraphic units, metamorphic facies and micropaleontology.
Applied and economic geologyPast papers test mineral resources, petroleum source and reservoir rocks, hydrocarbon migration and entrapment, geophysical techniques, water resources and geological hazards.
Important: Geology answers reward organised explanation. Define the process, explain the mechanism, add a labelled diagram or example where useful, and connect the answer to Pakistan when the question asks for a regional application.
Physical geologyWeathering, erosion, transportation, geological cycles and surface processes
Structural geologyFoliation, lineation, tectonics, mountain belts and deformation

How to use CSS Geology past papers

Do not begin by solving eleven papers without a plan. Use the archive in three passes.

First, separate MCQs from written questions. Use the 30-minute Part-I limit for quick recall, then give most of your preparation time to the 80-mark written section.

Next, classify the written questions. Mark each question as physical, structural, mineralogical, stratigraphic, petroleum or environmental geology. Add a Pakistan label when the question involves local tectonics, minerals, water or hazards.

Finally, practise complete explanations. Draw simple labelled diagrams where they help, define technical terms before using them and finish each answer with the geological implication. That last step keeps a long answer focused.
